Most of the world has seen the recent news footage of the Space X booster rocket returning to its launchpad where the ingenious ‘chopsticks’ grabbed it safely. An amazing achievement that demonstrates that innovation continues to challenge the status quo, usually when it’s not expected. In our own sector of logistics, we have seen the arrival of heavy goods convoys (platooning) of self driving trucks, automated warehouses run by robots, etc., but what Elon Musk, love him or loathe him, has shown yet again is that even the most trusted of systems can be upturned through revolutionary change - and that there is always more that can be done. In logistics we need to identify which barriers can (in fact MUST) be shredded and key to that will be what our IT components can do to help remove hurdles to that happening.
So, here and now we would like to ask you what more do you want from your transport IT? Here’s a tip: a leading edge, SaaS-based TMS already has the capability to integrate, plan, optimise, report and provide transparent stakeholder engagement in real-time, so what else can we get it to do to help realise your ideas for revolutionary change?
