In our view it simply had to happen, it was only a matter of when and who. Last year is when, and Uber Freight is who - and they’re sure to be just the tip of an onrushing iceberg. As an award-winning player in transport management systems (TMS) technology, Deltion is happy to welcome the competition because at last there’s a disruptor among us that appreciates the value of top-of-the-line tech and who is happy to implement AI solutions within and alongside it. As far as we’re concerned, we can only learn from such a left-field newcomer to the sector, and more importantly, freight operators themselves may finally begin to appreciate what we’ve been trying to tell them all along, which is that without the platform of a modern TMS they will always be behind the 8-ball, and so much more likely to fall victim to the vicissitudes of a very fickle market.
Let’s face it, in the last two decades newcomers to all kinds of markets have upended the status quo that used to hold sway - the ‘you won’t get fired for buying IBM’ attitude is rapidly becoming a thing of the past - so at Deltion we’ve been a bit frustrated, to say the least, that so few operators in the logistics sector could see the urgent need (not even the benefits!) of moving with the times and, most importantly, the tech.
